Every year, thousands of Nigerians require Proof of Fund (POF) for different purposes — from studying abroad, securing immigration visas, to winning business contracts and tenders.
In all these cases, you must provide verifiable financial evidence that you have the required funds. But the process can be stressful, confusing, and time-sensitive.
That's where POF NG comes in. We provide legitimate, verifiable Proof of Fund and investment certificate documents tailored to your specific needs:
Your money is working for you — sitting in a fixed deposit at 18%, spread across treasury bills, or growing in a money-market fund. Then visa season arrives and the question hits: do I have to liquidate everything into a savings account, or can my investments serve as proof of funds?
The short answer: fixed deposits are widely accepted; treasury bills and money-market funds are accepted by some embassies with the right documentation; stocks and crypto are generally not counted. The long answer — which embassy accepts what — is below, and it can save you from breaking an investment unnecessarily (or from a refusal for relying on the wrong instrument).
The Principle Every Embassy Applies
Visa officers ask two questions about any asset: is it liquid (can you actually spend it on tuition and living costs?), and is it verifiable (can the institution confirm it exists and is yours?). The further an instrument sits from "cash in a commercial bank," the weaker it becomes as evidence.

Instrument by Instrument
Fixed deposits — YES (almost everywhere)
Fixed/term deposits at commercial banks are accepted by the UK, Canada, USA, Australia, and Schengen states. Requirements:
- A certificate of deposit or bank letter stating the amount, your name, and the maturity date
- For the UK: the funds must be accessible — a deposit you can break (even with an interest penalty) counts; one that legally cannot be released before maturity may not
- For Canada: fixed deposits are explicitly listed as acceptable — pair the certificate with your 6-month statements
Treasury bills — SOMETIMES
Nigerian T-bills are verifiable and safe, but they are not bank balances. Canada and the US generally accept them as evidence of available funds when supported by a CSCS/investment statement and a bank letter confirming the redemption value. The UK's maintenance rules are stricter — money must be in cash-equivalent form, so T-bills should be liquidated into your account before the 28-day window starts.
Mutual funds and money-market funds — SOMETIMES
Money-market funds from recognised fund managers (Stanbic IBTC, ARM, FBNQuest) carry weight with Canadian and American officers when documented with fund statements and a redemption-terms letter. Again, the UK effectively requires liquidation first. An investment certificate or letter from the fund manager strengthens any file.
Stocks and shares — RARELY

Too volatile. A portfolio worth ₦20m today can be ₦14m at assessment. Officers may note it as background wealth, but no major embassy counts equities toward the required amount. Liquidate what you need.
Cryptocurrency — NO
No embassy currently accepts crypto balances as proof of funds — unverifiable custody and volatility rule it out. Convert to naira/fiat, land it in your bank account, and document the source early, because large crypto-origin inflows attract exactly the scrutiny described in our embassy verification guide.

The Timing Play That Protects Your Interest
Break investments strategically, not fearfully: liquidate only the required amount (check it with the proof of funds calculator), move it early enough to satisfy seasoning rules — 28+ days for the UK, ideally 3–6 months for Canada — and keep the redemption paperwork as your source-of-funds evidence.
And if breaking your investments would cost you real returns, that is precisely when a structured POF service makes financial sense: your investments keep earning while compliant funds sit under lien in a top bank. Compare the cost of professional POF against your interest penalty — the maths often favours keeping your money working.
